In advertising today, news media, books, video, and audio, meditation is now successfully an open topic for discussion. What used to be discussed only amidst certain cultures, individuals, and belief systems is now enjoyed today with a freedom unrealized. Meditation is mainstream, as much as that buzzword precludes me to use. At a minimum, most have at least heard about meditation.
People utilize meditation for health, wellness, and spirituality. Some people consider it new age garbage, others a mystical practice. But, what is it about meditation that makes it so important? It allows one to see past the illusion. How is this done? By simply closing one’s eyes, the process begins. Repeat and results do come. A gateway to understanding opens to reveal Truth.
Now, the above makes some big claims. However, how long would it take to see the truth in that claim? If one meditates for 30 minutes every day for 30 days, is that long enough? How about 6 months? A year? 2 years? 10 years? Would one be willing to meditate, on and off with consistent regularity, for a period of 10 years of their life in order to see the Truth? How about just 2 years, or one year, or just 6 months, or 30 days? How about their entire life? Let me repeat, how about their ENTIRE LIFE?
A meditative state is merely a descriptor of a condition of consciousness in a moment. When someone is born, they become aware of their Earth environment. They become aware of themselves. From that point forward, how often throughout our life do we sit within our awareness of our environment? Let’s just say 12 hours a day, to keep the example simple, we are awake and aware. Then we sleep and we enter another state of consciousness, another meditative state. Meditation being a state of focal awareness. By being born, we become aware of two states of focal consideration, awake and asleep. We inherently are given those states of consciousness just by entering this world. We “meditate” in either.
Then, there are other states of consciousness we enter. We day dream. We focus on projects or problems. We study. We observe the world and watch entertainment. We have sex. We drink and drug. We pray. We exercise. Between awake and asleep, in reality, there are multiple states of meditative awareness. We call that normal. However, it can be seen as simply focal awareness in a moment. We “meditate” what we meditate.
However, amidst all that variety of conscious and unconscious experience, is that all there is? No. We do what our worldly sisters and brothers do, however, and mirror each other we do. But that is not all that consciousness has to offer. There are other meditative states that bring about this understanding. This is what the sages of old were discussing.
Never has their been a time of greater consciousness distraction than this world of today emits. However, also, never has there been a time of greater communication of something as age old as meditation. It is a double edged sword. The biggest realization out of meditation can be that just by being born we enter upon a newly created meditative state of consciousness for ourselves. That is truly where the meditation began for all of us upon entering this Earthly world. We somehow effectively changed our consciousness from one state of awareness to another upon birth. Meditation can thus be thought of, in one larger aspect, as meditating out of the meditative state. Or, simply put, changing our conscious awareness, just as birth did for us upon entry into this world.
Meditation is not a secret anymore. It is being discussed openly in this article right now. Just by reading these very words, the idea is introduced within your consciousness that induces a change in the potentiality of consciousness expansion. A reading meditation is underway in this moment. The awareness within consciousness does not have to be limited to this article, or even to the confines of the bony apparatus called the skull. It extends way beyond that. And thus a key is introduced.
The bubble that is this life was created as a container for our consciousness to experience anew. However, that does not mean that the bubble cannot be seen, nor what lies beyond its lining. We may perceive its inner lining as an opaque surface. However, once we can speculate that it is actually a one way mirror, we can pass through it to see its true tranparency from the other side, and witness for ourselves that the bubble surface was merely an illusion all along.
A meditative state becomes a doorway for that and much, much more. A change in conscious awareness is simply all it is. A de-birthing, in a way. Some call it “being born again.” Some, “enlightenment.” Some, “ascension.” There are many names for it. Setting aside all the grandiosity and ultimate labeled allure of it all, a simplicity must be conveyed. Despite the complexities involved in teaching its appication, there is a truth in its ultimate simplicity of operation. Close your eyes and let go. This is what we all did prior to being born into this world. A couple simple steps to reverse engineer a created state of conscious being.
Bubbles. How many bubbles could there be? From a child in wonder do we see. A bubble we enter, in a bubble we be. When do we see the bubble about thee? As a child we pop a bubble with ease. As an adult we forget the child we be. A bubble is a container to see.
